Bio-W Receives EPA NCP Certification

Bio-W is the first bioremediation, floating absorbent designed to collect and contain most hydrocarbons floating in water (both salt and fresh water).  Bio-W  has the ability to repel water therefore allowing it to "hold" only the hydrocarbons it absorbs.  When the hydrocarbons are "locked" or adhered to the fibers of the Bio-W flakes, the activated microbes will begin to remediate or "eat" the contaminant turning the hydrocarbons into harmless carbon dioxide (CO2) and water.

The National Contingency Plan or NCP is the federal government's blueprint for responding to both oil spills and hazardous substance releases.

The NCP became a big part of our vocabulary during the BP Horizon Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010.
